Divorce of the Rich and Famous – Houses, Vehicles, and Horse Semen?

William Shatner recently finalized his divorce from his fourth wife, Elizabeth Martin. The “Star Trek” actor, 88, filed for divorce from Elizabeth, 61, after 18 years of marriage. He cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for filing in December 2019 and the pair reached a settlement in March 2020.

Although Shatner’s net worth is well over $100 million, the former couple signed a prenuptial agreement whereby Shatner would keep all “Star Trek royalties” in the event of divorce. The prenuptial agreement allegedly set out exactly how the finances were to be divided. One report states Martin is to receive $2 million in support as per the agreement.

As part of the divorce settlement, the pair had to reach an agreement on dividing their many assets. There isn’t much sympathy for the affluent former couple having to decide which of the many houses and vehicles each would retain. However, the pair did have to face some novel issues – like, who would lay claim to the horse semen?

Both Shatner and Martin are avid horse lovers and as a result, own multiple horses, stables and a ranch. As part of the settlement, Shatner and Martin will each keep two of the four horses they own; Shatner gets Renaissance Man’s Medici and Powder River Shirley, and Martin takes the reins of Belle Reve’s So Photogenic and Pebbles. As a result of Shatner’s hobby as a horse breeder, he will also get “all horse semen” and related equipment at his stables in California. Shatner also gets their two dogs, Macchiato and Double Espresso.

Meanwhile, Martin will retain the home in Malibu Cove and another in Versailles, Kentucky, as well as a share of her family farm in Indiana. She also keeps 2015 Mercedes Benz ML65, 2007 BMW X5 and a 2004 Ford Explorer.

Shatner’s share of the properties is comprised of the Studio City, California home and a ranch in Three Rivers, California. Though Martin will have visitation right to the ranch to visit the grave for her first husband as well as graves of some of their horses. She also is entitled to “occasionally harvest some fruit” from the trees located on the ranch.

The Judge signed off on the settlement and the pair are officially single. Perhaps Shatner will go “where no man has gone before” – into marriage number 5?
